A day covered in chicken poo!

Well, caught up with all the cleaning today, managed to get loads done, and covered in shit!. Nothing to report regarding the birds really, other than moving the Silver Partridge Pekins back outside, putting the lemon millifluer sablepoots in the cage the pekins were in and the 5 week old chicks in the hutch the poots were in...are you following? lol. So now there is a brooder all cleaned out, disinfected and ready for the next hatch, which is due on monday.

I have decided to sell my Wyandotte Bantams so have them advertised for £60 ono for the trio - 2 splash hens and a black cockerel - producing 100% blue offspring. Please email mike@horndeanhens.co.uk if you're interested in them  They are currently laying and have hatched 3 chicks from them with more in the incubator at the moment.

Also, customers quite often ask for my recommendations on all sorts of poultry stuff, so I thought I'd list a few of the things I use most often:

Feed: Fancy Feed - Growers, Layers and Breeder pellets. Farmgate Chickcrumb (Fancy Feed chickcrumb is non medicated)
Disinfectant - Virkon S and Smite
Lice/Mite control -  Diatomaceous earth in the houses and Permetherin based ant powder on the birds. Ivermectin on any birds that are heavily infected!
Incubator - Can't go wrong with Brinsea
Shavings - Lay-soft - Very absorbent  and seems to last longer than pine shavings
Supplements - Apple Cider Vinegar, Garlic Powder, fresh Oregano . Herban for sniffles
