Over the weekend, we hatched our first chicks of the year. We managed to hatch 10 out of 12 Old English Game Bantams, which I was very please with :)
I'll be setting the incubator again later in the week with a test hatch of eggs from our birds which have just started laying, these include mixed pekins. Up until last week, we had the pekins all together in a couple of pens to make the winter cleaning easier, so might get some weird and wonderful colours from these eggs. They always make good pets!. Crele Pekin, Silver Partridge Pekin, White Silkies, Lemon Millifluer Sablepoot (these are all kept under 14 hours light in the shed), Light Sussex Bantams and Wyandotte Bantams. My legbar hen has been crouching everytime you go near her for the last week, so hopefully, she'll lay an egg or 2 before I set the incubator.
